Counselling

What is counselling?

All of us will experience challenges in life, ranging from minor irritations to crises that we could never imagine would happen to us or people we care about. Counselling is a process where a trained professional will work with you to listen to your concerns and help you to understand how you think, feel and behave. Together you can identify any changes you may want to make in your life.

What issues can counselling help with?

There are many issues that clients typically come to therapy for, however many choose counselling as a way of developing self-awareness to understand themselves better. Common issues include:

  • Anger management
  • Relationship issues
  • Loss, Grief & Bereavement
  • Stress
  • Confidence/self-esteem
  • Anxiety and/or depression
  • Sexuality

Things to consider:

Counselling is a commitment and an investment, so it is important to maximise the benefits. Ensure you find the right counsellor for you – consider speaking to several counsellors if you can to get a sense of what they offer, any relevant experience that would help you specifically and whether or not they are professionally qualified and regulated.

Counsellors at MJP Counselling are all highly qualified, with extensive experience, professional registration and abide by the BACP’s ethical framework.
